I thought I would give this discussion board thing a try; an attempt at finding at least a few Catholics who might feel as I do.

I am a faithful and devoted Catholic. I love this faith, and I love Jesus. Yet I find so much of this faith impossible to make sense of. I feel conflicted in my faith life, because it appears my fellow Catholics are either all-in, or all-out with our church and teachings, whereas I feel both all-in AND all-out.
Does anyone else feel as I do?

I do not wish to debate anything with anyone. I simply want to speak with integrity. Where I can say I love God and His Church, AND where I can say I feel incredibly lost and confused about Him, and this unfolding drama of the reconciliation of a God with his creation.

What kind of a Catholic am I that I find this whole drama inconsistent, incoherent, and absurd?

P.S. for context, I am a middle-aged parent and spouse, professor of psychology, and Catholic revert some 15 years ago.

One cognizant enough to realize that she doesn’t know everything, humble enough to accept that fact, and wise enough to seek the knowledge she lacks. You’d be amazed how many folks there are who lack one (or all three) of those qualities.

You’ve come to the right place, sister. May I recommend perusing through Catholicism 101 for starters?

Welcome to the board. :wave

As noted, the Catholicism 101 board is a good place to start with questions you have, or discussions you want to pursue.

Sometimes we move threads to other, more appropriate forums, but we will leave a "shadow" topic in its place. When you click on that thread it will take you to the new forum.
