I am a cradle Roman Catholic, who whose parents wandered away from the church with me in tow, now back, although to an Eastern Catholic branch. Here to find book recommendations and any studies online to help deepen my faith and spirituality.

Nothing wrong with Eastern Catholic. I've known a few people who have done that.

What kind of book are you looking for?

i will always recommend our original host's wonderful book which contains his conversion story, then a veritable treatise on the two most important sacraments of the early Church , the Eucharist and baptism... in case you don't know, it's called crossing the tiber

I think I hit paydirt checking the book store forum, Fr. Hardon's Lifetime Catholic Reading Plan. I have read one of the tomes, Quo Vadis and am currently working on a second, a collection of works by St. John of the Cross.

If you would like to hear some MP3s of a Carmelite priest giving conferences on St. John of the Cross, they can be found here:

http://www.advancedchristianity.com/

Scroll down a little bit and you will see a short bio of Father Venard Poslusney O. Carm. and scroll a bit to the right and you can see a list of the topics. Each talk is about 45 minutes, and they do end, mostly, in the question and answer period abruptly, as they are not professionally made, but recorded during his conferences. As you can see, he covers other topics as well.

And....Welcome to DCF! :)
