Hi Everyone,
My name is Tatiana... or Tanya... or even just Tati and I'm new to this community. I was looking for a Catholic community to join, although I'm not new to the whole discussion forum - I have one that I go on a lot, but it is losing its appeal so I thought I would find something closer to what I believe.

I'm a science teacher to little ones at an independent Catholic school- it means we're not affiliated with any diocese, but we do have priests and churches invovled at our school. I've been there for 5 years, worked 2 years previously in a private (non-religious) school and hated it. The fact that I can talk OPENLY about my faith with my students and celebrate the Mass with them is a blessing. We're in full swing right now practicing our Tableau for the Christmas concert - includes all religious songs and still can bring me to tears of joy, even after 5 years.

I'm also married to a wonderfully sweet and loving Catholic man- we've been married for three and a half years and have been together since 2006. I joined the Catholic Church in 2005 and he joined the Church in 2009 or 2010. We were married in the Church as well.

I was born into the Russian Orthodox Church and was baptized/confirmed/given first communion as a baby in that Church. In 1997, I fully gave my life to Christ and was a Protestant for awhile. I really missed the more Traditional ways of worshipping- I want my icons, incense, Rosary, and Eucharist!!! :D I have been more interested in the Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church, but haven't taken the step towards attending such a parish (and they aren't really too close- even though we have a large population of Slavic Catholics in this area). So right now I'm Roman Rite - I hesitate too because my husband might or might not feel called to the Eastern Rite - don't know if that would be tricky to go to 2 different parishes.

Anyways, have a blessed Saturday! I'm looking forward to participating in this community

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

As one of my job goals this year we had to pick a personal goal, so I decided to take some more time getting to know our Blessed Mother better. I'm currently reading through "Christ's Mother and Ours" by Father Oscar Lukefahr, CM and would love to share my thoughts and questions on it with you all
