Don't know what edited :-) means, but, if I understand the second one, I doubt that it will be a hit on this forum.

Yes, there is usually a test after you've been here 24 hours. If you don't pass it, you're out.

:)

No, don't go. I'm sure the moderators will make an exception just this once.

I never use abreviations, unless I first say what they mean and, I wouldn't bother to do that unless I was going to be using it a lot in the same writting. (of course I make exceptions for super common Abreviations like Mr. or Mrs.) I have a particular hatred for most acronyms and I concider thier overuse by web culture to be really rude. (please do not use them if you adress me personally, I wont respond)
It's been my experience that "webspeak" always leads to confusion and when it does people always clear it up by resorting to standard English. Why not just start with standard English and save time by avoiding the confusion ?

Except for when it is referring to a certain blue parrot here, it means "Note Bene".

AV = Authorised Version of the Bible (the English name for the version called by some the KJV)

BCP = Book of Common Prayer

ktl. = kai ta loipa = the Greek equivalent of etcetera - often found in the textual apparatus of the NT

Oh, thanks for this! I sometimes find myself cocking my head to the side, trying to figure out the acronyms. :)

NPC ~ Non-practicing Catholic

I have always liked this one, even when I was one myself.
For gamers, it also means "Non-Player Character" or AI.
This may sound mean, but I also imagined myself to be this, just going with the flow, doing/reacting the way society expected you too, not taking up your faith and thinking for yourself again. Practising is actually surrendering, but it just makes you feel way more alive.
