Indeed, the Lord Jesus, when He prayed to the Father, "that all may be one. . . as we are one" (John 17:21-22) opened up vistas closed to human reason, for He implied a certain likeness between the union of the divine Persons, and the unity of God's sons in truth and charity. This likeness reveals that man, who is the only creature on earth which God willed for itself, cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself. ~ Pope Paul VI, Gaudium et Spes 24.3

Has anyone avoided arbitration lately?

MLB to rename "disabled list" to "injured list". From ESPN:

Quote:
The league will make the change out of concern that the term "disabled" for injured players falsely conflates disabilities with injuries and an inability to participate in sports. Deputy commissioner Dan Halem said the change was made at the suggestion of advocacy groups for the disabled, including the Link 20 Network.

I'd never really given it much of a thought, but I support this change (as a person who has an actual, permanent disability).

Heck, the NFL already calls their list of injured players "injured reserve".

apparently mr kuechel is finding out he may have over-priced his worth... or at least what he expects to be paid... i heard tonight he was looking for a 6 year deal at 23M per... wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 what!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 is he a good pitcher? yes, he is ...and he owns the yankees for some reason (some rumors have him headed there) but he's got to understand , he's no spring chicken so 6 years is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE stretch, and you may remember, he has lost considerable time over the past 3 years with injuries ... would i like to have him on the astros...sure.... would i pay him anywhere near what he wants.... that would be a resounding hard no!!! (but then, considering the state of our starting pitching staff this year, compared to last, maybe a nice 3 year deal at $25M might be warranted.... would he take it.... probably not :( ) .... so no lance, no charlie and no dallas this year... oh crap, i hope our offense explodes

The big bucks free agent market is gone. Teams have decided that they're not going to make high-priced gambles again. That's why Harper and Machado can't get signed. No one wants to bet that they'll be worth what they're getting paid in 5 years.

At least you have an offense...my Tribe has the best starting rotation in baseball, but they'll have to be at their best every time out, because run support will be sparse...
