They have cooled off enough that another hot team (2nd place in the West?) could catch them. I'm happy to see that Norris isn't closing now.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Rockies win the West. Believe it or not, in their 25 years of existence they have never won their division. All 4 of their playoff appearances (including 2007, when they went to the World Series) have been via the Wild Card.

ETA: The Marlins, who entered the league the same year as the Rockies, also have never won their division. The Curse of 1993?

Schnucks is working with Matt Carpenter to get St. Louis to spread the salsa around.

finally caught a break from the o's.. they take down the a's today and give us that extra half game lead... it's back up to 3.5 now and i'm breathing a small bit easier

starting our last homestand tonight in the juice box... it's a 9 game stint, then finish the season with 7 on the road

the a's have 3 at tampa bay, 6 at home then finish with 6 on the road, all on the left coast

it got scary in the 9th, but we won by the same score by which the a's lost... they rallied from 5 down in the 9th and the snakes rallied from 5-1 in the 9th... all in all a good day, giving us a 4 1/2 game lead and now a single digit magic number

thanks to the rays btw for slowing down the freight train that the a's have become ... we appreciate it :fyi:

I guess Wainwright isn't quite ready for the fork after all.

It was really nice to see him be able to use his fastball in conjunction with his curve ball and the cutter. Hopefully his arm issues are finally a thing of the past.

hated to see rondon give up the grand salami to a pinch hitter instead of getting the 3rd out of the inning and us only having the 9th to protect our slim 1 run lead.... the cumulative batting avg of our starters against their starter last night was .386 ... that sure didn't translate very well... and sadly we caught up to the number of games the a's have played by putting one in the loss column... hope the rest of the homestand turns around... though the way we play at home, i have much trepidation :? :nooo:

i was truly shocked  ... also to discover that we actually beat een last night... and even though the judge went hitless in his 4 abs, he stung the ball and looked so much better than correa did (or has) after coming off a lengthy dl stint ... personally i think correa's confidence is shot that he didn't come back and be his normal self on offense... he is taking all kinds of pitches that would have been driven or launched last year ... hope he figures it out before the playoffs... thankfully, his defense is still stellar... he was #3 in some defensive stat given (runs saved or something like that)... aj has dropped him in the order as far as 6th iirc

... in other news , our 34th round pitcher looked awesome last night against the mariner bats with talks among the broadcasters if he should make the post season roster ... it is such a blessing to have so many arms that you can't decide which ones to take ... and thank you halos for your help in continuing to stop the roll of the a's machine 8-) ... 5 games up with 11 to play is a comfortable position to have :cloud9:

looking good once again for the good guys against the een ... but as we have learned all year... you can't count them out..... ever!

The Orioles ensured tonight that they will not be as bad as the 2003 Tigers.
