The strangest thing, today I forgot the Hail Mary. Out of nowhere I found myself saying "Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.....uh wait..... that's not right..... uhhhh... what the heck was that middle part? Took me like 10 seconds to remember "blessed art thou among women." And here's the even weirder part: I was like 20 beads into praying the Rosary. So I had been saying it correctly for like 5 minutes repeatedly and then forgot it for seemingly no obvious reason.

I was curious if this had ever happened to anyone else in some way or fashion. I've had similar instances of random brain fail, such as pulling my car up to the wrong side of a gas pump in a car I've been driving for several years, but the Hail Mary thing is by far the strangest.

Some filling stations now have long hoses that will reach to the opposite side.

It's happened to me. Plenty. Most recently I was saying the Gloria, got stuck, backed up, started again, got stuck again, and wound up having to say it in English instead. After the next Psalm, said the Gloria with no issues. As I've done a zillion times. Just a weird little brain cramp.

Twice I have forgotten the formula for the Anointing of the Sick midway through anointing a group of people.

Every day, when I go to work, I log in to the computer by entering my employee number and when I punch out to go to lunch, and when I punch back in when I come back from lunch, and again when I punch out at the end of the day, I have to enter my number. So that means that every day I work I have to enter my employee number at least 4 times. And I've worked 3-4 days a week, every week, since October 2015.

And yet, there was a time a few weeks ago, when I came time for me to punch back in from lunch that I couldn't remember my number, I stood there for about 5 minutes struggling to remember. I have entered it literally hundreds of times, but suddenly I couldn't remember the number.

What about an ear mic from the bishop to call in the plays...?

It is a sure sign that you have an alien intelligence in your brain that is co-opting a significant fraction of your brain's capacity.

Just trying to help.

It's a comfort to know there's a reason.

I recall standing numbly in front of my locker after returning from a high school vacation with not a clue what my combination was.

Reminds me...

A little girl was prepping for her First Communion, and the day came for her First Confession. She was nervous, and her grandpa said that he would go with her that day.

Grandpa waited in the pew and the little girl went in to make her confession. A few moments later, she comes out, kneels beside grandpa and bursts into tears. Grandpa has every old tale of mean priests yelling in the confessional racing into his mind, tries to remain calm - he says "Honey, what is wrong?"

Little girl says "Father told me to say three 'Hail Marys'"

Grandpa said "why are you crying?"

Little girl says "because I only know one!"

I've been saying the Our Father for over four decades. A couple of weeks ago, right after receiving the Eucharist, I knelt to pray, said "Our Father, who art in Heaven," then went    Total brain stoppage.

That was the exact conversation a friend of my mother's had with her granddaughter.

Has happened to me a few times. Usually, when I'm under stress or anxiety.

I think it is a story that goes around the catechists world often.
