The weather forecasters are saying EES-uh-ee-us, or one guy said EES-uh-ee-uh. Since the weather service names the storms, I guess they can pronounce it however they like, but that's a new one on me.

According to Lector’s Guide to Biblical Pronunciations by Joseph M. Staudacher, Isaiah is:

ai-ZAY-uh

But the Weather Service is using the Spanish variant of Isaiah, so the Spanish pronunciation is used: “ee-sah-EE-us.” Or, at least, it should be. :fyi:

Unstressed vowel sound. I didn’t have access to a schwa symbol. :fyi:

It's all about diversity - or should I say "diversidad"?

You should not. Spanish is a problematic language due to its gendered endings, and should be suppressed wherever possible. (Yes, this is sarcasm.)

And will no doubt, be firm policy enforced, somewhere.
