Dunno. I think I first recall hearing it on SportsCenter.

Speed Racer, did you see that River City took 2 of 3 from Florence last week?

No I didn't.
Actually, "my" team in the Frontier League is the Wild Things. Their stadium is about an hour from my home. Though, I haven't been to a game in almost three years.

Today is the big day for Morgantown, and our new minor-league team the West Virginia Black Bears. Home opener is tonight, and I have tickets for Sunday's game. If Baseball Reference is correct, this is Morgantown's first pro baseball team ... ever. (The nearby cities of Fairmont and Clarksburg had Class 'C' minor league teams way back in the early 1930s.)

Enjoy the game Sunday! Let us know how it goes.

Black Bears lost their opener to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 15-7. I listened to the radio broadcast up through the 5th inning when the Scrappers went up 11-1. The Black Bears made 5 errors.

Hopefully the game I attend on Sunday will have a better result.

a somewhat surprising factoid for you... saw an article on the top 20 earnings of athletes around the world... the big 3 sports (football, basketball, and baseball ) only had a total of 6 representatives (2 football, 4 basketball), while soccer dominated the list with 6 total ... this figure comes from salary + endorsements... not surprisingly, the two football players are both quarterbacks... w/o the aid of a search engine, who would be your 2 guesses as to who represents the football elite ... i must say, i would not have guessed the correct two..maybe one of them...certainly not both

#20 started at 31.9 million...#1 was at 105 million (with NO endorsement money)

Quote:
The 100 highest-paid athletes play 10 different sports led by baseball with 27 players, although Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Cliff Lee is the only one to crack the top 30 (he ranks No. 30 at $25.3 million). Basketball (18), football (17) and soccer (15) make up half the list combined. Cricket and track and field both placed a lone athlete on the list with cricket-legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni at No. 22 and the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, ranked No. 45. There are no hockey players for a third straight year. Sidney Crosby came closest at $16.5 million.

the youngster from texas, jordan spieth , is looking to become the first player to win the masters and the us open in the same year since tiger did it in 2001... before that nicklaus accomplished it in 1972... only 5 people in history have managed this impressive feat

:D Black Bears swept a doubleheader from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers! Because of a rainout last night, they played two 7-inning games. In the first game, the Black Bears trailed for basically the entire game until the bottom of the 7th, when they scored three runs for a 5-4 walkoff win. The winning hit was a bases-loaded infield hit. In the second game, the Bears never trailed; they went out to a 3-0 lead and held on to win 3-2.
