This thread is to post about sports that aren't popular enough among DCFers in general to merit their own threads. :fyi:

I caught the end of a wild Women's College World Series (softball) game last night between Auburn and UCLA. Auburn had a 9-7 lead going into the 7th. The Bruins got a home run in the top half to go up 10-9. The Tigers then scratched out a run in the bottom half to force extras, and won in the 10th on a walk-off bases-loaded walk.

According to the commentators this was the second highest scoring game in WCWS history, and the first in which both teams scored in double digits.

Auburn is playing Florida right now in the semifinal. Tied 2-2 in the 6th, Florida playing as the home team.

Florida only needs to win once to advance to the final. The Tigers have to win twice.

You know me, SR. I wouldn't pull for Flor-duh with three engines out on the team plane. :nono:

At least it's an all-SEC semi...as it should be. :fyi:

Well, if you have run, or are training for, a race, I think that would qualify.

I just did a 1.4 mile training run, er, wheel. Averaged about 16 minutes per mile, and given that I had to push up some steep hills, I think I did o.k.

Does anyone have what it takes to unseat Magnus Carlsen? Challengers are qualifying for the Challengers' Tournament this year.

The other semi (which should be underway now) is Michigan vs. LSU. The Tigers have the disadvantage of having one loss in the WCWS and thus must beat UM twice to advance.

Edit: Top of the second, LSU just took the lead on a sac fly.

Normally, I'd be right there with you .... but remember, I was born and raised in Michigan.

Don't beat yourself up for that, SR. You had no say in the matter. I certainly won't hold that against you. :fyi:

Who said I was beating myself up about it?

BTW - final score - Michigan 6, LSU 3. "Hail to the victors valiant..."

Switched now to baseball, my alma mater Wright State just took a 4-0 lead on Notre Dame. Looking to advance to the final of the Champaign Regional.

Wright State ELIMINATES the Fighting Irish, 4-0! :wootsign

Next up, Raiders in their first ever regional final, against Illinois. They need to beat Illinois twice to advance to the super regional.

I grew up being both a Michigan fan and an LSU fan, but having gone to UL-Lafayette and now to A&M, I'm starting to really detest LSU, so I'll go with GO BLUE!!!

In college baseball, my Cajuns upset Houston in the Houston Regionals today. We only need to win one game against the victor of Houston v. Rice to take the Regionals victory. GEAUX CAJUNS!

Also, my Aggies beat Cal tonight in the College Station Regionals. We need to beat them again tomorrow in the Winner-take-all final tomorrow. GIG 'EM, AGGIES!
