Did you ever think there would come a day that you would be glad to see gas prices as "low" as $3 a gallon? I didn't. It's around $3 here in Michigan. The lowest in the country is supposedly $2.81 in Columbia, MO

It doesn't make up for the stock market drop though.

The reason for this is the production of the USA as well as other non-Opec nations. It is devastating to some smaller economies in Africa, and harming Iran, Russia, and Iraq. Other Opec members are trying to get Saudi Arabia to significantly drop their production to bring it up to $100/bbl but they do not wish to do this. For one, they do not wish to lose their market share, and two, as our ally, they wish to help us put the screws on Putin.

You have Gulf down there? Don't remember seeing them the two times I visited Texas earlier this year .... they used to be quite common around Detroit when I was growing up.

Dumb but true: when I was a kid, I thought the "Gulf" in "Gulf of Mexico" referred to the oil company .....

Paid $2.59 at Kroger this evening. That was with a 30 cents per gallon fuel points discount.

Don't you need to spend $1,000 in groceries to get that kind of discount?

there are other ways ... prescriptions get premium points ... i think i got 250 points on a 50 prescription bill ... my $10 bill from yesterday got 50 points... it's not always a 5:1 ratio though... not sure what governs it

Ah yes, I remember now. Pretty substantial points for prescriptions.

For a time they were giving out $25 Kroger gift cards for a new or transferred prescription. We always tried to take advantage of those offers too.

Kroger is also doing a 4x points on gift cards promotion right now. I bought a couple of gift cards on Saturday so that added significantly to my fuel discount.

I found out a while back that I can't earn points on prescriptions at Kroger, because I'm on a Federal employee health plan which is subsidized by the government. Same thing at Walgreens. I suspect it's some legal restriction ....

We finally got below $3.00 last week. Most stations around here are $2.99. I think I saw one that was a little less. On

On Sunday, we drove from Pittsburgh, north on Route 79, then east on Route 80, continuing on Route 66 and then Route 6 to Roulette, PA. Almost every station that we passed on the almost 200 mile trip had gas for $2.99.

And of course Kroger lowered their price by 2 cents the day AFTER I filled up.

Would've saved me a grand total of about 19 cents.
