The Unit - Show based on Delta Force

Anyone else here seen it? It was only four seasons and I just started watching it. I'm wondering how the book the series is based on even got written? The author is a former Delta Force Member but I thought that was very secret squirrel stuff so how would have gotten permission/clearance to go public about it like he has?

I just started season 2. From what I've read online it was a money thing, the reason it was not renewed.

Not necessarily, shows are expensive to make these days, and even top 10 hits are having their budgets cut....

point being doom...if people were watching, the show would be on... the unit did not have the numbers that cbs wanted...plus it had dropped in the rankings in every season, finishing at 43rd... in reading up on it, the creators thought the next season would be the last, so they had all sorts of ideas already in the works as to how they would end the series...sadly, they did not get a chance to do so

otoh, perhaps it was good they did not get a season 5...one of the storylines was to have a gay member of the team come aboard :roll:

Again, not necessarily, even shows in top 10 get canceled these days, high ratings no longer guarantee profitability

They should have had about 50% less time then they did on what was happening on the home front and 50% more about the missions and actions of the Unit. A little here and there about life at home would have been good, but too much is too much. They forgot their audience and turned a show geared towards guys into a soap opera. As a result, I suspect that many guys did exactly what I did, which was hope that after they set things up on the home front with the first few episodes, they would transition to less of that and more of the operations, etc. After half way through the first season, it became apparent that was not the course the they were going to pursue, and I turned it off.
