Sprint CEO Dan Hesse is talking about a possible merger with T-Mobile...

You know that he wouldn't be saying this publicly unless it was being seriously discussed between the two parties...

You have GOT to be kidding me......in the last 5 years we have seen so many mergers in the wireless industry that it isn't even funny....

What has happened?

Cingular bought AT&T
Verizon bought Alltel
AT&T bought Centennial Wireless, Dobson Communications and Cellular One
Sprint bought Nextel and Virgin Mobile

Even the so called 'alternatives' are really just the same old companies under different names

'Boost Mobile' is Sprint

'Straight Talk' is a joint project between Verizon and Sprint

'Tracfone' is just a company that roams on the AT&T and Verizon networks depending on region....

If this happens, then AT&T will be the only carrier wireless carrier with national coverage which is American owned

Why don't we just put an end to the charade: let's have all the wireless providers merge to form one big company and completely eliminate even the illusion of competition

A merger between Sprint and T-Mobile? This is ridiculous!

If T-Mobile phones actually worked that would be something.

Similar to the banking industry. One of the banks in town has changed names 5 times in the past ten years.

Eventually there will only be Bank of America, anyway. And I'll be resigned to keeping my money in my mattress. (I am not overly fond of BoA.)

The lack of decent phones is one thing both carriers have in common actually....although to be fair they have gotten some good Android handsets in the last year which look promising. The bigger problem however is the complete incompatibility of the networks....

I use Bank of America because they are pretty much the only bank that has branches in all 50 states, as often as I move around this is important, VERY important. Never had any problem with B of A either.

Whatever it is I know that 90% of conversations on a T-Mobile phone are composed of "can you hear me? you still there? hellooo? hellllloooooo? you still there? can you hear me?"

T-Mobile has a pretty small network, not just in terms of subscribers but in terms of network coverage, and they have very little bandwidth......their coverage problems are no doubt the reason they try to compensate by offering extremely low prices
