I get to crawl around under our house and replace a leaky outdoor faucet that split out last winter but didn't reveal it's evil self until now. Kinda. I mean, it leaked and then didn't, so I thought it was maybe just some sort of relief valve/seal thingie. Heck, wadda I know? My dad, great mechanic that he was and is, didn't do house stuff. Never seemed to need to. Anyway, yeah, there's some water that got in the exterior wall but it's got all summer to dry out so I'm not worried so much about it. There isn't that much water under the house, just enough to make it miserable up by the faucet.

He must have done it as it came up so that it seemed like he never did any.

No, pops never was a big DYI'er guy. We also didn't have many issues with the house he's spent the bulk of his married life in. The issues he did have were big enough that they took contractors, and it seems like the little stuff just didn't come around. He also was never the guy who'd knock a wall down and make a new room or do a remodel. No home rewiring, adding a light to a room, or wiring a new plug-in. As a result, I don't ask him much about house stuff, only car stuff. For house stuff I ask my wife's dad who pretty much does everything, whether he's capable or not. :D He's always up for a project, even at his age.
