Just out of curiosity, and not intending to make inquiries that encroach on the personal. Are there any men here who have been participating in the Exodus 90 spiritual journey? My husband has, and it's been wonderful; for him as a Catholic man, and for our home. His 90 days will be completed for Easter, but he is looking forward to a wonderful new way of living out his faith and his relationships going forward.

He had a hard time finding men in our own parish who were involved, but then found a group of about 30 in a nearby parish.

I've been assisting a fraternity over the same time period as your husband. My sense is that there has been a huge growth in this during the past year — I know there is in my diocese — and I have spoken to many people who are either participating in a fraternity or wanted to be in one. I think it's notable that this call to ascetical practices and deeper prayer and fraternity has arisen so strongly at this moment in the life of the Church.

I think you have to live out in a tent, install an outhouse, and eat fish heads and rice daily.

Much like your cave experience as a child.

On a serious note, I have not done it and it's not in my plans, but I know many who have and who have benefited from it.

Too bad they don't have something similar for women.

In an interview, they said that they aren't neglecting women; but if women want something of this sort, someone else has to work it up. Men and women are different, so the practices and approach would differ to adapt accordingly.

My husband went through a "second round" recently, culminating with Christmas. He did have more of a fraternity this last time, but still found it more challenging than the first time. It may have been that it was easier during Lent than during Advent. Or maybe he expected it to be easier this time, having gone through it once before.

Everyone is different. All people don't cling to the same comforts, nor does each man have the same addiction or struggle as the next. The funny thing is that the cold showers haven't been the hardest part for him -- the one thing that puts most men off when he brings up the subject.

When all is said and done, he has been so blessed by Exodus 90; and as his wife, so have I.

They have a support group at my parish for the wives of the men going through the course, and I heard that there is also something similar. I would think "Women of Grace" would sponsor something like that...

I'm doing as much of it as I can. I'm told if I can't do it ALL, I'm not doing Exodus 90. I debated and decided that I couldn't let the perfect become the enemy of the good. I have no fraternity this side of heaven, and that will have to do.

Just dropped in for prayer request for my niece, Emily, who was horribly beaten by her husband. Please stop by the "O Lord Hear Our Prayer" forum!

Yea, me too, though I have a fraternity. I'm planning to meet w/the priest who presides over this fraternity, I was thinking of dropping out. Just having some anxiety issues and trying to discern if I should just press through them or set it aside...
