There is a truly ludicrous number of unfinished films by Welles, they could release a new Welles film every year for decades. His entire career consisted of making movies that never got finished and never saw release. His admirers would say that this was due to the fact that he was a transcendent genius and no one could appreciate his vision. The real truth, however, is that he was insanely mercurial and difficult to work with, and thus tended to sabotage himself.
