In no particular order, according to Our Sunday Visitor: https://www.osv.com/osvnewsweekly/byiss ... s-usa.aspx

    New Orleans, La.
    Emmitsburg, Md.
    Bethlehem, Ct.
    St. Louis, Mo.
    Denver, Co.
    San Antonio, Tx.
    Chicago, Il.
    Pittsburgh, Pa.
    St. Augustine, Fl.
    Los Angeles, Ca.

I've been to six of the cities on the list (and might have traveled through two more), but five of those visits was before my conversion to Catholicism, so of the cities on the list, I've only attended Mass in San Antonio. But I regularly attended the parish in the photo - Mission San Jose, and went to Mass twice at the San Fernando Cathedral. I also went to visit the Basilica of the Little Flower, but we arrived right smack dab at the middle of Mass, so we didn't go in.

ETA: I checked the locations on the map - I did not travel through those two cities. :fyi:

Not surprised to see Pittsburgh in the list. Glad to see they mentioned the 'Burgh is home to the mother church of Byzantine Catholicism in America. (I've been to that cathedral.)

By what stretch of the imagination is Emmitsburg a city?

May God forgive me, but from the outside, the Cathedral in L.A. is ALL kinds of hideous. :nooo:

the outside of our co-cathedral is not much better... but ours cost only 49M ... its capacity is a little over half the size though ... 3000 vs 1820

According to Wikipedia, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is often referred to by its acronym: COLA. Please, I beg you: don't ever let Tim Hawkins become aware of this fact. I can hear the parody song now....

i was hoping to discover the nickname online, but failed to do so... the acronym was not the nickname, as the nick was definitely given to address the ugliness of the exterior

i would imagine ped would know ...in fact, my knowledge of it might have come from him originally

St. Augustine is a phenomenal city: it's gorgeous, full of history, and very nicely situated. Haven't been there since I was a teenager, but I sure did have fun exploring the oldest house and the Castillo de San Marcos (Ft. St. Mark).

Yes, as a matter of fact, we did go to Ripley's. It was touristy, but cool. I don't remember where we ate, but I can guarantee that it was a seafood restaurant. Daddy wouldn't have gone anywhere else. :cloud9:

Does it contain a cathedral? That's the classic definition of a city, at least in Great Britain. That's why you have tiny cities like St Davids (1,841 inhabitants), Wells, Somerset (10,536 inhabitants), Ripon (16,702 inhabitants), Truro (18,766 inhabitants), Bangor, Gwynedd (18,810 inhabitants), Ely (20,256 inhabitants), Chichester (26,795 inhabitants), and Newry (26,967 inhabitants). Yes, they have a city in Great Britain (in Wales) with a population of 1,841.

OK, Sports Fans, time for a little fun and games here. Which four cities on the list have I NOT visited? In the spirit of fair play, I will remind everyone that I've already admitted to having been in San Antonio and St. Augustine. Oh, and I have visited all of the states on the list; just not all the cities. :fyi:

emmitsburg and bethlehem seem to be strong possibilities... after that, it's tough.... couldn't believe a southern girl would not have been to n'awlins, so let's rule that one out .... lala land, chicago and denver would almost have to be eliminated because flying in to those three states would lend itself to those being on the list, so i'm going with pittsburg and st. louis as my other two :fyi:

You might want to visit the Old Jail at St. Augustine and see the prisoners had to ear raccoons.

Ooooh, three out of four. So close, and yet - no chicken dinner for you, compadre. So sorry.

And I've only driven through N'awlins; we didn't even stop. I really don't remember having driven through town; I was an adult, but I was also sick as a dog (we were near the end of our move from Honolulu to Athens) and I only woke up when the baby needed feeding or changing. I do remember that we hit NOLA during rush hour, though, and it was horrendous.
