why do some things go G-d instead of God, is it some political correctness?

stephen can answer better than i , but it's the idea that the name of God is never to be spoken or written.... so writing G-d gets the idea across w/o actually writing it down

why can't I say the word? Do you say Lord instead? I'm lost.

MSG, Stephen is Jewish and many Jews out of respect for God's name do not dare even to say His name.
