I read somewhere where the Catholic Church discourages pregnant couples from getting married in Catholic Church. That seems like total lunacy for the Catholic Church to discourage pregnant couples from getting married in the Catholic Church. It is better for the baby to be born legitimate then to be born illegitimate.

I have no idea where you read that, because it's not true.

Also, I'm not sure what's supposed to be hilariously funny, or even funny at all, in there.

I'm OK with it unless they are both pregnant.

I'd love to see where you read this, it would be good to offer a correction. Would you mind posting the link?

I read it on Catholic Answers Forums. I punched in on Google search Catholic man marrying pregnant girlfriend. It will show a result for Catholic Answers Forum.

You will get all kinds of different opinions on the CA Forums. Doesn't necessarily represent the teaching of the Church. :fyi:

That said, the top hit I got on Google, the original poster in the thread said, essentially, that the couple marrying just because the woman is pregnant could be grounds for an annulment later on. Which I think could possibly be true, in some cases. Fr. Kenobi, please correct me if I'm off base here.

Shotgun weddings can have an element of coercion that could make it invalid, but that would have to be proven. A pregnancy in and of itself is not enough.

It is better that the baby be born legitimate than born illegitimate. The Catholic Church should be all for children being born legitimate and not illegitimate.

Who cares if marrying because the woman is pregnant could be grounds for annulment? The only thing that is important is that the baby is born legitimate and not illegitimate.

I vote on giving the mods (or at least Obi) the power to label some threads as hazardous to your mental and spiritual health that those who read may do so fully informed at their own risk. That was not a pleasant experience. :|

Hence, "or at least." I think, as your soul has been indelibly marked, so, too, should your DCF profile privileges. 8-)

I fully recognize what would happen to the great majority of my posts, but I'm willing to take one for the team.
