For reasons related to my previous thread on phenomenology, I was recently referred to the work of Edith Stein, aka St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. Other than the fact that she's a saint recently canonized by JPII in '98 (well, that's recent to me), I know nothing about her and having taken the time to google her yet. Any of you have any knowledge of her ideas or work to get me going in the right direction?

Much obliged.

Just from reading her life in a few sources I know her major work is Finite and Eternal Being

I'd suggest starting with Alasdair MacIntyre's book on her.

The only details I know is that she converted after reading "The Life of St. Teresa of Avila", and that her sister also converted, and joined her in the convent.

Upon arrival, almost certainly. They wouldn't have passed the initial sorting. Since the train they were on left on August 7, they probably arrived on the ninth, and therefore that's her feast day.
