I'm going to assume that many are familiar with him here.

Is he considered one of the best sources on expositing the teachings of Aquinas?
I regular hear Feser recommending him as well as using him as a source to confirm Feser's points.

I've also listened to clips of David Bentley Hart deferring to Brian Davies when Hart talks about classical theist views.

Davies' writings seem kind of steep. I've only read 2 of Feser's books (Aquinas and Last Superstition).... not certain how much that prepares me for Davies.

He's fine. I generally prefer older books to contemporary books. So I'd say to go with (say) Gardeill's 3 volume Philosophy of St. Thomas over anything by Fr. Davies. (Don't be thrown off by the numbering. It's really a 4 volume set, but only volumes 2-4 have been translated into English.) Or
