What are the different parts of a prayer? Twenty years ago I knew this, but today I can't remember. It seems like prayers are comprised of 4 parts.

Have you ever checked out the parts of the Lord's Prayer, as laid out in the Catechism? Its actually quite fascinating. Go to the bottom of this page: ... cc_toc.htm

Excellent! Thanks for this post! I was talking to a friend the other day and we were trying to remember the 4 types of prayer. I think I was forgetting confession as a form of prayer.

Sometimes people like to use little acronyms to help one remember different important aspects of prayer. One that I know is A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, Supplication- asking) I'd encourage you to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church's section on prayer which covers different types and aspects of prayer.
