Did only the people who carried him have faith, what about the paralyzed man himself?

I read someone saying that the interpretation that only those who called him had faith is ableist.

It demonstrates the power of intercessory prayer, but at the same time, the person being prayed for has to be open to grace.

I don't know which interpretation is correct, but I am convinced that it takes a certain kind of nonsensical mindset to brand as ableist the interpretation that only those who carried the paralysed man had faith. They are completely missing the point and taking offence where there is no reasonable cause for offence.

I agree with NB.

If we needed to know about the paralytic's faith, the Bible would say. Therefore we don't need to know. That's not a disparagement of the paralytic; it simply means that his faith is not a part of the story.

Does the word "their" include the paralyzed man?
