The symbol of Our Lady of Lourdes is a wild rose. A wild rose is sometimes also used to symbolise pregnancies outside of wedlock in my culture, but it was unsuccessful.

Why is love like a wild rose, not a cultivated rose? What if a wild rose grew in your garden, but you chopped it down. What if this wild rose was a human being, and you murdered it. Love is also about tolerance. Even if I haven't planned this person, or I didn't expect this person, or this person is different to me, God still created him or her. There are lots of people in the world who are like wild flowers. These people are still created by God, but not always chosen by us.

Jesus was like a wild rose. It could be that he was outside the box. The Jews could only think inside the box and they killed Jesus.

Sunshine, I understand pro-life fervor. Truly I do. However, you may want to take it down a notch. I doubt there's a regular here on the board who isn't pro-life, so you're preaching to the choir with that audience.

More importantly is the need to be cognizant of the seeker - those for whom this board is intended. It's entirely possible that there is the casual reader or lurker or explorer who is dealing with a crisis pregnancy or who has had an abortion in the past and wants to know if she's a lost cause in the eyes of God or Holy Mother Church. We need to convey to that person that she is NOT beyond hope, for that is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches. If she were beyond redemption, there would not be a Project Rachel or other Catholic organizations who counsel women contemplating or who have had an abortion.

Yes, we must admonish the sin, but if we do not do it in a spirit of love, in the hope of bringing that person to the comfort of fellowship with God, then we help no one - especially if our actions drive that person in the other direction.

Take a deep breath, sunshine. Wander among the fora. Kick the tires a few times. Then ease into the meatier discussions. I think you'll have a much better experience if you do so. :fyi:
