 Post subject: perfection?

i am interested in detailed advice on how to go about perfection- like how do i mortify my flesh etc. i heard st. aloysious gonzaga and francis de sales talk about that?
any book recommendations?

St. Francis de Sales, St. John of the Cross would be the usual recommendations. There's plenty other good stuff. I would just pick one to start with.

The most important thing you must do is to find a spiritual director before undertaking any routine of major mortifications etc.

If you like sugar or cream in your coffee or tea, eliminate one or both of them.

If you hit a snooze button on an alarm clock in the morning to delay getting up....just get up instead.

One wouldn't need special permission from a confessor/spiritual director for the above, and yet they can be hard to start doing.
