If a person (baptized, non-Catholic) is married, divorces that spouse, then is remarried, I get that, barring any impediments or whatever to the first marriage, the second marriage is invalid.

If the first spouse dies, does the second marriage automatically become valid? I wouldn’t think so, but I confess to this not being my area.

It would not be automatic - it would have to be convalidated.

Any idea what sort of nullity proceeding would be required with regards to the second marriage if they have been divorced and the individual is seeking to convert and perhaps have the option of marrying another in the Church?

Full-fledged case. It's not defect of form.

Oh, my fault, I didn't see the part about the person being non-Catholic.
