Marriage has two purposes. The begetting of children and the sexual contract. A same sex relationship can have neither. The first needs no explanation. The second these days confuses people as so many things are considered sex. Sodomy is sodomy it isn't sex. Proper intercourse is.

The traditional answer is that the two purposes of marriage are the uniative and the procreative, the uniative means, essentially, the happiness of the spouses.

I think you mean 'sex' and not 'marriage.' I don't think anyone believes that the purpose of marriage is only to beget children and have sex.

No it doesn't. To say that the purpose of marriage is to have sex is frankly an absurd proposition.

The traditional answer is that the two purposes of marriage are the uniative and the procreative, the uniative means, essentially, the happiness of the spouses.

It means sex.

The ends of marriage are the begetting and raising of children, the mutual comfort of the spouses, and the quieting of concupiscence.

Marital relations are means to fulfill those ends, but with respect to the secondary end (mutual comfort of the spouses), not the only means.
