My priest told me to never expect that we'll ever receive the Blood of Christ during Mass anymore.
He leans more traditionally and says that this is actually a good thing because lay Eucharistic ministers never should have been giving the Blood to begin with. He went on to stay that the introduction of the Blood was a much later introduction.

Is this the case? If it's true then I'll just have to shut my trap (I've been complaining alot as of late) and accepted it.

Your priest is correct.

The ancient practice, at least in many places, was for both the Body and the Blood to be given to the faithful at Mass. However, there have always been issues with the distribution of the Chalice and so, around the 12th-13th centuries it was gradually withdrawn. Eventually "utraquism" was condemned. So the faithful have received only under the species of bread for centuries.

(Of course, the above applies to the Roman Rite only.)

Personally I'd be far more concerned that Communion in the hand will become an enforced norm.

I recall a nun's conversation with me about this issue. She had been asked to be a "cup-bearer" or EMHC, or whichever term is preferred. She said there was a film floating atop our Lord's precious blood, presumably from lipstick, chap stick, or whatever.

Absolutely disgusting. And someone has to consume that in order to purify the vessel!

I've never thought about this before.
I can see why it would be best if the precious blood wasn't given during mass.
